Anthis 1 was a grandson (τῆς δὲ δευτέρας (sic) θυγατρός (i.e. Euanthia 1) ὄνομα τῷ πρωτοτόκῳ αὐτῆς υἱῷ Ἄνθις) of Philaretos 1 and Theosebo 1, son (ὁ τούτων πατὴρ Μιχαήλ) of Euanthia 1 and Michael 2: Nicetas, Vita S. Philareti, p. 141, line 22. He was therefore brother of\n Niketas 7, Petros 4, Philaretos 2, Kosmou 1 and Hypatia 2. He was also nephew of Ioannes 12 and Hypatia 1. The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
