Kosmou 1 was the granddaughter of Philaretos 1 (St Philaretos), daughter of Euanthia 1 and Michael 2, sister of Anthis 1, Niketas 7, Petros 4, Philaretos 2 and Hypatia 2: Nicetas, Vita S. Philareti, p. 141, line 23. The family was of Armenian descent; see Maria 2.
