Theodosios 8 was a priest of the Church of Prousa, also called Theopolis, in Bithynia; in 681, at the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) he subscribed both the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and the Acts of the Council, on behalf of his bishop, Polychronios 1, who was old: Riedinger, p. 796, lines 2-4 (= Mansi XI 653) (διὰ Θεοδοσίου τοῦ εὐλαβεστάτου πρεσβυτέρου τῆς κατ' ἐμὲ ἁγιωτάτης ἐκκλησίας), Riedinger, p. 826, lines 32-33 (= Mansi XI 676) (διὰ Θεοδοσίου πρεσβυτέρου). The final session of the Council, at which the documents were signed, took place on 16 September 681.
