Sergios 58 was the husband (ἀνὴρ) of Maria 7, father of Gregorios 79 (St Gregory the Decapolite); they lived in Isauria at Eirenopolis in the Decapolis; Sergios 58 was not interested in spiritual matters, unlike his wife: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 2. He and Maria 7 tried to arrange a marriage for Gregorios 79: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 3. His death occurred at the time when Gregorios 79 was contemplating becoming a monk: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 4.
