Sabas 3 was possibly a priest or deacon; in 787 he represented the see of Tios at the second session of the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) (on 26 September 787) when he supported the traditional veneration of icons as described in statements from pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1): Mansi XII 1106 (Σάββας [πρεσβύτεροσ?] καὶ τοποτηρητὴς Τίου). The see was represented at the first session by Theophylaktos 17 (again possibly either a deacon or a priest) and at the seventh by the bishop Michael 13. No representative is recorded among those attending the fourth session.
