Photeine 1 was the wife of Leo 2, mother of Ioannes 6; the family lived at Parthenitai in the land of the Crimean Goths; she prayed to God for a son, and when Ioannes 6 was born she dedicated him to God's service: Vita Ioannis Gotthiae, p.191, Synax. Eccl. Const. 772, 26-9 (Λέοντος καὶ Φωτεινῆς υἱὸς γεγονώς).
