A monk, Makarios 10 was the addressee of a letter from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) between 821 and 826 concerning the lapsed bishop of Chios (Anonymus 694), about whom Makarios 10 had apparently complained: Theod. Stud., Ep. 517, pp. 769-771 (addressed Μακαρίῳ μονάζοντι).
