Leo 7 was also known as Kouloukes (τὸν ἐπιλεγόμενον Κουλούκην: Theoph. AM 6263); in 772 he served as notarios under the strategos of the Thrakesion theme, Michael 5 Lachanodrakon (Λέοντα τὸν νοτάριον αὐτοῦ: Theoph.
