Konstantinos 296 was a basilikos spatharios and protonotarios of the dromos; addressee of a letter from Ignatius the Deacon (Ignatios 9); Ignatios 9, having carried out orders sent him by Konstantinos 296 (παρὰ τῆς σῆς βιωφελοῦς ἐντολῆς), wrote to reproach him for failing to carry out a promise in return to inform the logothetes (Anonymus 761) of Ignatios 9's impoverished state; Konstantinos 296 is addressed as ὦ πανεύφημε: Ignatius Diac., Ep. 39 (addressed Κωνσταντίνῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ πρωτονοταρίῳ τοῦ δρόμου).
