Kallinikos 6 was a native of Egypt(Καλλίνικός τις τῶν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου); a wise and learned man, he knew the secret of Greek fire which had been forgotten and revealed it to the emperor Michael II (Michael 10), who had it used to defeat the naval forces of the rebel Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7): Genesius II 2.
