Known as Spektas, Ioannes 155 was a member of the synkletos; an iconoclast, he was chosen in c. 815 by the emperor Leo V (Leo 15) to promote the cause of iconoclasm: Vita Nicetae Medicii 31 (εὗρεν δὴ ὀλίγους τῆς συγκλήτου, Ἰωάννην τὸν καλούμενον Σπέκταν). Cf. also Eutychianos 2.
