Gumpert 1 was the brother of king Aripert II (Aripert 1); on his brother's death. Gumpert 1 fled to the Franks and remained there until his death; Gumpert 1 had three sons, of whom the eldest was Ragimpertus (Raginpert 2): Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 35.
