Grasulf 1 became Lombard dux of Friuli some time in the first half of the seventh century: see [PLRE III, p. 545 (Grasulfus 2)] and Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 39. Dux of Friuli, Grasulf 1 died some time in the mid seventh century and was succeeded by Ago 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 50 ("mortuo apud Foroiuli Grasulfo duce, Foroiulensem ducatum Ago regendum suscepit"), V 17 ("Grasulfo Foroiulanorum duce defuncto, successor ei in ducato Ago datus"). His brother Gisulfus had been dux of Friuli from 590 to c. 610: see [PLRE III, pp. 537-38 (Gisulfus 2)].
