Enkrateia 1 was the wife of Georgios 122 and mother of the patriarch Tarasios 1; she and her husband were both descendants of patrikioi and were patrikioi themselves (ἐκ πατρικίων σειρᾶς πατρίκιοι χρηματίσαντες): Ignatius, Vita Tarasii 4, lines 3-5, cf. 18, line 1 (Tarasios was the son of Enkrateia). She was the daughter of Tarasios 6 (Tarasios 1 was κατὰ δὲ τὴν μητέρα ἐγγονὸς Ταρασίου πατρικίου): Catal. Patr., pp. 290-291.
