Anonymus 280 was a leading citizen (ἀνδρὶ ἐπιδόξῳ) (probably at Constantinople); after his wife (Anonyma 44) had remained barren and childless for many years, Anonymus 280 went to the tomb of the late patriarch Ignatios 1 (died in 877) and obtained holy oil, with which he anointed his wife's body while asking for the prayers of the late patriarch; his wife Anonyma 44 then became fertile and bore him many children (τέκνων πλειόνων): Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 561D. Cf. Anonymi 33.
