Anonymus 190 was a monk of the Stoudite monastery; during the siege of Constantinople by Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7) he was sent by the emperor Michael II (Michael 10) secretly to have talks with one of Thomas 7's generals, Gregorios 71 (Gregorios Pterotos), who was disenchanted with the rebel and planned to desert: Theoph. Cont. II 16 (p. 63) (διὰ μοναχοῦ τινὸς τοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν Στουδίου).
