Anonymus 177 was an Indian (Ἰνδῷ ὄντι), employed as a cook (μαγείρῳ) by Elias 1; described as ugly; when Elias 1 rebelled against Justinian II (Ioustinianos 1), the emperor killed Elias 1's children and forced his wife (Anonyma 14) to marry the cook: Theoph. AM 6202, cf. Nic. Brev. de Boor 46, Mango 45.
