According to the Synaxarium, Anna 16 was a native of Galatia but lived at Amnia in Paphlagonia and married Georgios 10; she became the mother of St Philaretos (Philaretos 1): Synax. Eccl. Const. 269, 32ff. This source derives the name from an allusion in Nicetas, Vita Philareti (p. 115) to the prophetess Anna.
