Angilbert 1 was archbishop of Milan ("Angilbertus, archiepiscopus ecclesiae Mediolanensis"); in 844 he was one of the Italian bishops who attended the Council of Rome with Drogo 1; they went because they had criticisms against pope Sergius II (Sergios 60): Lib. Pont. 104. 14.
