In AH 48 (Febuary 668-Feburary 669) al-Mundhir 1 was in charge of the people of al-Madinah who took part in a joint naval expedition with people from Egypt (who were under the command of Uqbah 1) against the Byzantines; overall commander of the expedition was Khalid 2: Tabari XVIII, p. 93.
