Theophilos 51 was a Stoudite monk; he was an architect and builder (τέκτων); he was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) and is mentioned in a second letter, both written in c. 816; during the persecution (under Leo V, i.e. Leo 15) he had abandoned the life of a monk and was living with a woman; Theodoros urged him to return to the monastery: Theod. Stud., Ep. 166 (addressed Θεοφίλῳ τέκνῳ), cf. Ep. 165.
