Theophilos 38 was a basilikos protospatharios and komes of the Opsikion; owner of a seal dateable to the first half of the ninth century: DOSeals III 39.36 = Zacos and Veglery 2517. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει, with [τ]ω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: [Θ]εοφ - ιλ' β' α' ς - π' κ' του Ο - ψικιου. The name and title read: Θεοφίλῳ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ κόμητι τοῦ Ὀψικίου.
