Theophanes 21 was paternal uncle of Nikolaos 26; he was a monk in the monastery of Stoudios at Constantinople in 803, when he welcomed Nikolaos 26 on his arrival there and took him to the hegoumenos Theodoros 15: Vita Nic. Stud. 869B-C.
