Theonas 1 was a Stoudite monk, who lapsed during the iconoclast persecution under Leo V (Leo 115), between 815 and 818; he was acquainted with Symeon 27 whom Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) asked to urge Theonas 1 to write to him: Theod. Stud., Ep. 165 (addressed to Symeon).
