Theoktistos 5 was a young monk who served Niketas of Medikion (Niketas 43) when the latter was imprisoned in Constantinople by Ioannes 5 (Ioannes grammatikos) (in 815); later he was the successor of Niketas as hegoumenos of the monastery of Medikion: Vita Nicetae Medicii 40.
