Theognostos 17 was a patrikios; he had a wife who was cured of dropsy by Makarios 9 at Constantinople; Makarios 9 had recently become famous after curing first Paulos 10 and then the wife of Paulos (Anonyma 100); the incident occurred at a time when Tarasios 1 was patriarch of Constantinople: Acta S. Macarii 6, p. 149, lines 4-7, esp. lines 4-5 (τῇ Θεογνώστου συνεύνῳ τῇ αὐτῇ Παύλου βασιλέως προστετιμημένου ἀξίᾳ; Paulos was a patrikios).
