Theognostos 8 was a patrikios and strategos of Thessalonike; owner of two similar seals dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 8a and 8b. The name and titles read: [Θεογ]νώστῳ π[α]τρικίῳ καὶ στ[ρ]ατηγῷ Θεσσαλονίκης. Cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 106.
