Theodotos 42 was a basilikos silentiarios and dioiketes of Ephesos; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2487. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Θεοδο - τω β' (καὶ) σιλε' - (καὶ) διοικιτ' Ε - φεσου. The name and titles read: Θεοδότῳ βασιλικῷ σιλεντιαρίῳ καὶ διοικητῇ Ἐφέσου.
