Theodoros 9 is described as ὁ τοῦ Μανσοὺρ (probably meaning, not "the son of Mansour", but a member of the Mansour family; he was therefore a native of Damascus and a relative of John of Damascus, Ioannes 11); in 735 he was exiled "to the regions of the desert" (εἰς τὰ κλίματα τῆς ἐρήμου): Theoph. AM 6226. There is nothing in Theophanes to reveal who exiled him or for what reason, but it was presumably an order from the caliph.
