Theodoros 3 was a native of Koloneia; he was a patrikios: Theoph. AM 6160 (Θεόδωρος ὁ Κολωνείας), Theoph. AM 6161 (Θεόδωρον τὸν πατρίκιον τὸν Κολωνείας). He was instrumental with Andreas 1 in preventing Konstans 1's plans to transfer his family and the seat of government to the West (in 661/662): Theoph. AM 6160. He was sent by Constantine IV (Konstantinos 2) in 670/671 to appease the troops of the east when they demanded the coronation of the two brothers of the emperor (Heraklios 1 and Tiberios 1) as well as of Konstantinos 2 himself: Theoph. AM 6161. Described as an acquaintance of pope Agatho 1, he was a soldier with the rank of "Count" and came from Koloneia of the Armenians; he persuaded Agatho 1 to convene a council at Rome which approved the alleged heresy of Maximos 10 and then Agatho 1 persuaded the emperor Konstantinos 2 by means of a bribe also to accept it: Mich. Syr. II 447-448. Possibly confused with Theodoros 22 and/or Theodoros 48.
