Strategios 2 was a koubikoularios and parakoimomenos, he was one of a number of people (many of them koubikoularioi) who were arrested for image worshipping during Lent 780 by the emperor Leo IV (Leo 4); they were beaten and tonsured and put on display in the Mese before being imprisoned; later they all, apart from Theophanes 2 who died, proved excellent monks: Theoph. AM 6272 (Παπίας καὶ Στρατήγιος καὶ Θεοφάνης οἱ κουβικουλάριοι καὶ παρακοιμώμενοι). See further Iakobos 1.
