Stephanos 163 was a subdeacon (ὑποδιάκονος) who was entrusted with a letter to pope Nicolas I (Nikolaos 28) in c. 858 by the deposed patriarch of Constantinople, Ignatios 1, together with Laurentios 8 and Stephanos 164; they failed to deliver the letter; later, in 861, he was involved with Laurentios 8 and Stephanos 164 in the mistreatment of Ignatios 1: Theognostus, Libellus ad Nicolaum I, 857BC.
