Stephanos 157 was a nobleman called Estephana ('Estappana i.e. Stephanos), living in Armenia; he received into his house the fugitive rebel Babek (Babak 1), as if to honour him, but then held him captive, and delivered him over to the Arabs in return for gifts: Mich. Syr. III 90, Bar Hebr., p. 136. The date was apparently in the year 1148 Sel. (836/837).
