Stephanos 137 was hegoumenos of an unnamed monastery; addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) written between 821 and 826; he had written to Theodoros 15 frequently; Theodoros 15 refers to the predecessor and spiritual father of Stephanos (Anonymus 577); Stephanos 137 had asked Theodoros 15 for advice regarding the treatment of persons who had lapsed from the faith and then repented; the monks of his monastery are mentioned and perhaps included Symeon 30; Stephanos 137 is styled τῆς τιμιότητός σου (p. 716, line 3) and addressed as ὦ τριπόθητε (p. 716, line 6): Theod. Stud., Ep. 487, pp. 716-718 (addressed Στεφάνῳ ἡγουμένῳ).
