Stephanos 135 was a Stoudite monk; addressee of three letters from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) written between 816 and 826: Theod. Stud., Epp. 173, p. 294; 348, p. 485; 513, pp. 762-765 (all addressed Στεφάνῳ τέκνῳ). He is mentioned in a further letter of Theodoros 15, written in 816; he was one of the group of Stoudite monks associated with Euthymios 15 and Ephraim 2: Theod. Stud., Ep. 181, pp. 303-305, line 5. In c. 816 he suffered during the iconoclast persecution, when he was flogged and banished: Theod. Stud., Ep. 173, p. 294 (c.a. 816). He was still relatively young in 817/818: Theod. Stud., Ep. 348, p. 485. Under Michael II (Michael 10) he lived with the monk Anthimos 16; they were accused of avarice by Theodoros 15; he is addressed as ὦ καλὲ Στέφανε καὶ υἱὲ ἠγαπημένε (p. 762, line 2): Theod. Stud., Ep. 513, pp. 762-765 (a. 821/826).
