Stephanos 26 was bishop of Smyrna in Asia; in 692 he attended the Quinisext Council at Constantinople, where he signed the canons: Ohme, Bischofsliste, p. 150, no. 41 (= Mansi XI 992) (Στέφανος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Σμυρναίων μητροπόλεως τῆς Ἀσιανῶν ἐπαρχίας).
