According to the List of Old Bulgar Rulers, Sevar 1 was called Sevar and the name of his family was Dulo; he ruled over the Bulgars for fifteen years; see Runciman, First Bulgarian Empire, Appendix II, pp. 273 ("Sevar 15 years, his race Dulo, and his years tokh altom"), 277 (for the chronology). He was ruler of the Bulgars from 725 to 740; see Grumel, Chronologie, p. 388. He succeeded Anonymus 30 and was succeeded by Kormesios 1. See Runciman, op. cit., p. 35.
