Sergios 72 was basilikos spatharokandidatos and ek prosopou of Cherson; owner of a seal dateable to the first half of the ninth century: Zacos II 887. Obv.: bust of Virgin holding medallion of Child, with the legend [+] [Θεοτόκ]ε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλ(ῳ). Rev.: +Σεργ - ιω β' σπαθ' - κανδ' (καὶ) εκ - προσον' Χ - ερσον (sic). The name and titles read: Σεργίῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ ἐκ προσώπου Χερσόνος.
