Sergios 40 was a silentiarios; owner of a seal dateable to the iconoclast period (VIII/M IX): Ebersolt, "Sceaux byzantins", p. 397, no. 497. Obv.: cruciform monogram in the name of the Virgin. Rev.: Σεργίῳ σιλεντιαρίῳ. Cf. Sergios 88, who owned a similar seal.
