Photeinos 3 was a priest and defensor (ekklesiekdikos) of the Great Church (Hagia Sophia) at Constantinople; recorded in the proceedings of the fourth session of the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) on 1 October 787: Mansi XIII 80. There is no grammatical link with the surrounding text, and this may be an interpolation, added when further quotations from the Fathers of the Church were inserted into the proceedings of the Council at a later date; see Mansi XIII 79-80, marginal notes.
