Philagrios 2 is mentioned in a letter written by Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) in c. 817 to the monk Epiphanios 48; Theodoros 15 expressed his concern about Philagrios 2: Theod. Stud., Ep. 378, pp. 509-510, line 15. Philagrios 2 was possibly a monk, about whose views on the veneration of icons Theodoros 15 was concerned.
