Othman 2 was an Arab commander; in 710 he attacked Cilicia and secured the submission by agreement of many forts there: Theoph. AM 6203 (Τούτῳ τῷ ἔτει ἐπεστράτευσεν Οὐθμὰν τὴν Κιλικίαν καὶ πολλὰ κάστρα ὑπὸ λόγον παρέλαβεν). In AH 91 (Nov. 709/Oct. 710) = 1021 Sel. (709/710) `Uthman ibn Walid invaded the lands of the Romans and returned victorious: Elias, Chron., p. 159, 1-6 = p. 76.
