Niketas 55 was metropolitan bishop of Klaudiopolis; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 474. Obv. : Virgin holding medallion of Child, between monograms of Θεοτόκε and βοήθει, with the invocative formula Πανύ[μνητε Θ]εοτόκε βο[ή]θε[ι]. Rev.: [+]Νικήτᾳ - <μ>ητροπολ(ίτῃ) - <Κ>λαβδιουπ[(όλεωσ)] - (καὶ) δούλ(ῳ) Χ(ριστο)ῦ. Perhaps identical with the author of an Alphabet in political verse (BZ XVI, 1907, pp. 482, 483, 491, 492) (see Laurent, op. cit., pp. 348-9, note).
