Nikephoros 42 was basilikos spatharios; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Speck, Bleisiegel 56. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Νηκη - φορω β' σ[π(α)] - θαριω. The name and title read: Νικηφόρῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ.
