A doux, Nikephoros 6 accompanied Elpidios 2 (the rebel in Sicily), when the latter, defeated by imperial forces, fled to Africa: Theoph. AM 6274 (Νικηφόρον τὸν δοῦκα). He presumably served under Elpidios 2, but Theophanes's language does not exclude the possibility that he had fallen into Elpidios 2's hands and was a prisoner.
