In 787 Maurianos 5 represented the see of Keramos in Caria at the first session of the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) on 24 September 787; he is styled Μαυριανοῦ τοποτηρήτου Κεράμων: Mansi XII 998. He is next attested at the seventh session (13 October 787), where he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council; the text is confused, but his title can be restored as follows: Μαυριανὸς ἀνάξιος πρεσβύτερος καὶ ὑποψήφιος Κεράμου: Mansi XIII 393, cf. the Latin version, at XIII 394; and for analysis of the whole passage see the entry for Niketas 23. If the restored text is correct, Maurianos 5 was a priest and by the date of the last session of the Council (23 November 787) bishop-elect of Keramos.
