Markellia 1 was a hegoumene; owner of a seal dateable to the late seventh century or the early eighth; the name of her monastery is apparently incorporated in a monogram together with her title, but the interpretation is uncertain: Zacos and Veglery 1340. The name and title read: Μαρκελλίᾳ ἡγουμένῃ, possibly μονὴς Θεοδώρου.
