Marinakes 1 was apparently patron or employer of Theophylaktos 6: Theoph. AM 6257 (Θεοφύλακτος κανδιδάτος ὁ κατὰ τὸν Μαρινάκην). In 766 Theophylaktos 6 was a kandidatos; perhaps he had formerly been employed by, or under the patronage of (if the two terms are necessarily exclusive), Marinakes 1.
