Marianos 1 was probably a Roman general. In 708 an Arab force attacked Tyana apparently to avenge the massacre by Marianos 1 of an Arab army under Maioumas 1: Theoph. The circumstances are wholly obscure and neither Marianos 1 nor the incident of the massacre are recorded elsewhere. It was presumably a recent event, and so will have occurred in 706 or 707.
