Manzon 1 was bishop of Prakana, also called Diokaisareia, in Isauria; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) and was probably present at all eight sessions, from 24 September to 23 November 787: Mansi XII 999-XIII 486. In the list of those present at the first session he is styled Μάνζωνος ἐπισκόπου Πρακάνων: Mansi XII 999. In the list of those present at the seventh session he is styled Μάνζωνος ἐπισκόπου Διοκαισαρείας: Mansi XIII 372. Elsewhere he is styled Μάνζων ὁ ὁσιώτατος ἐπίσκοπος Πρακάνων: Mansi XII 1107, XIII 65; Μάνζων ἐπίσκοπος Διοκαισαρείας: XIII 149; and Μάνζων ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Πρακάνων: XIII 397. On his bishopric, cf. Ramsay, Historical Geography, p. 364. At the second session he supported the traditional veneration of icons as described in statements from pope Hadrian I (Hadrianos 1) and condemned iconoclasts: Mansi XII 1107. At the fourth session he told how after returning home from Constantinople the previous year (in 786; he presumably attended the Council called by Eirene 1 in that year, which was disrupted) he fell ill and despaired of his life, but was miraculously cured after touching his ailing limb with an icon of the Saviour; his account was confirmed by a neighbouring bishop, Theodoros 69 of Seleukeia: Mansi XIII 65. Later he subscribed the statements read out from the Fathers in support of the veneration of icons: Mansi XIII 149. At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council: Mansi XIII 397.
